1. Get the latest version of Pardus

For detailed information about the most recent version of Pardus and to find the system requirements needed to install Pardus on your computer see the release notes.

You can download the Pardus installation file from servers or torrent network.

2. Burn the downloaded ISO file to DVD or USB memory

  • You can check if the ISO file is not corrupted and it really works with md5sum.
  • If you are going to install from the DVD, you can transfer ISO to DVD with one of following documents that suits you best:
  • If you want to do the installation via a USB memory, you can transfer ISO to USB memory as described in this document.

3. Start the installation

  • To begin the installation, you need to get into your computer's BIOS to set the boot sequence so that the DVD/USB drive is the first drive that is booted.
  • Please read the Pardus 2011 installation page.
  • You can install Windows and Pardus on the same computer.

4. First things to do after installing Pardus

  • Kaptan will meet you when you complete the installation of Pardus and open desktop for the first time. With Kaptan, you can quickly set preferences for icon set, desktop wallpaper etc.
  • After setting up an Internet connection, you can start browsing the Internet (if you are using a wired ethernet connection, no need make anything).
  • Installing updates is important to have an error-free Pardus. Package Manager is enough for doing this.
  • You can check and change the video card settings.
  • If you were previously a Windows user, you can say hello to your new habits.
