Inkscape is a vector drawing program. It is moving forward fast, and the aim is to make a complete vector drawing and vector animation manipulation program. It uses SVG files respecting W3C standard.
Since the last version, filters are being added, as gaussian blur, and some more in next versions, and makes it as powerfull as adobe illustrator (althrough, handling of layer is not as good as in illustrator).
