Installing Google Desktop Search

  1. install rpm2targz using package-manager
  2. Download rpm package from http://desktop.google.com/linux/install.html?dl=rpm and save it to your home folder.
  3. Open Pardus start menu->Programs->System->Konsole and give these commands one by one:
    rpm2targz google-desktop-linux-current.rpm
    sudo tar xzvf google-desktop-linux-current.tar.gz -C /
  4. Press alt+f2 and type gdlinux to start it

Removing

Open Programs>System>More Applications>File Manager - Super User Mode and delete those files/folders:

  1. /opt/google/desktop
  2. /usr/bin/gdlinux
  3. /var/cache/google/desktop
  4. /etc/cron.hourly/gdl-update
